For the 21st Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) held on July 7–8, 1999, the National Academy of Science and Technology Philippines (NAST PHL) adopted the theme “Food, Population and Environment.” The meeting highlighted the interrelated challenges of ensuring food security, managing population growth, and protecting the environment—issues considered critical to national development.
