The 31st Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) of the National Academy of Science and Technology Philippines (NAST PHL), held on 08-09 July 2009, centered on the theme “Active Aging: Preparing for Quality Life.” The event featured five plenary sessions discussing topics such as active aging concepts, changing social structures, healthcare quality, workforce and retirement, technology, nutrition, and global challenges. Concurrent technical sessions highlighted state-of-the-art research, including genetics and vaccines for disease prevention, circadian rhythms, dementia, nutrition, and insights from the Interheart studies. The ASM also showcased a documentary on exemplars of active aging, featuring prominent figures. Organized with support from various patrons and sponsors, the event brought together experts to share insights and strategies for fostering a quality life for the aging population.
