Enhancing Philippine Science and Technology Through ICT: An Overview

Abstract

This paper discusses how information and communication technologies (ICT) can become pivotal tools for advancing Philippine Science and Technology. It explores how ICT impacts processes for advancing science and technology, as well as the importance of improving digital literacy. The emerging Peer-to-Peer computing model is briefly reviewed, and examples of its opportunities for use in advancing science and technology are provided. The paper also examines the Careerspace initiative in Europe, aimed at the wide-scale improvement of ICT skills to enhance European competitiveness. The paper concludes with some summary observations.
