The Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) of the National academy of Science and Technology Philippines (NAST PHL) serves as a forum that convenes stakeholders from various sectors to discuss important and timely national issues and concerns towards formation of policy recommendations and actions.
For the 40th the Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) held on July 11–12, 2018, the Academy adopted the theme: Science and Technology-Enhanced Transformation for Sustainability and Resiliency (2018-2030).
The objectives of the ASM were the following:
(a) Insightful review of Philippine performances and achievements of the MDGs, and initiatives in relation to SDGs (6) Clean Water and Sanitation, (7) Affordable and Clean Energy, (11) Sustainable Cities and Communities, (12) Responsible Consumption and Production, and (15) Life on land targeted for 2018-2030.
(b) Make policy, action plans, and other recommendations towards the Philippines’ robust voluntary, effective, participatory and integrated” fulfillment of Philippines of the above mentioned SDGs.
(c) emphasize the country’s effort and initiatives on SDG (16) Peace, Justice, and strong Intuitions, and (17) Partnership for Goals in relation to other SDGs and recommendations on appropriate interventions that the Philippine government and the private sector can undertake to hasten the attainment of such development goals.
